Alpine Workshops on „Fire-induced geohydrological processes in mountainous areas“
The interdisciplinary expert network meets regularly to discuss wildfire occurence and the geohydrological consequences of wildfires in the Alpine region, fostering collaboration on research, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies to enhance resilience and environmental protection.

About
The interdisciplinary expert network on fire- induced geohydrological processes in the Alpine Region was established following the first expert meeting, which took place on 11–12 October 2022 at the GEOCHANGE Consulting e.U. office in Klagenfurt, Austria. This event brought together specialists from diverse fields, including geology, forestry, natural hazards, and disaster prevention, to discuss the impacts of wildfires on Alpine hydrology and landscapes.
The expert network meets every three years to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, exchange latest research findings, and develop strategies for risk assessment and mitigation. Meetings are conducted in English, Italian, and German to facilitate broad participation and knowledge sharing across regions in the Alps.
